Strength training forms a huge part of what I do with my clients. I’m in the process of putting together another blog post on why women need to strength train but in the meantime, I thought that it might be useful to ask my female clients what they get out of weight training with me. Check out what some of them said:

“Lifting really heavy stuff proves to me that I can do really hard things. It actually makes me feel quite invincible and I believe the resilience it’s given me is what got me through my PhD. When I’m lifting, I am in my happy place and for those few hours, nothing else matters.” - Meg

“Lifting gives me confidence in my body that I didn’t have before. I can just do stuff now. 6 months after an operation my body is stronger than ever and I’m lifting weekly Personal Bests at the moment!”- Gemma

“Lifting weights has been amazing for not only my physical health but also my mental health over the years.” - Sian

“I was a runner for years & loved it but only in recent years started lifting weights. I can’t believe the difference it has made to my fitness, strength & confidence!” - Sarah

“I started with Anthony purely to lose weight but in the process I’ve noticed such a difference from weight training. I haven’t just lost weight but my body shape looks totally different and definitely better from weight training. Plus, with three young boys to keep up with, it’s essential! When you’re on a long walk and the youngest needs a carry, it definitely helps to be strong! It’s also so important to me to influence my boys and show them good habits with physical exercise.” - Taylor

“It’s not about the sculpting and toning for me ( it helps ) but more about the satisfaction of being able to lift a certain weight or compete 3 reps of 15 of a particularly challenging move. It’s the feeling of power and inner strength to know I can do it .   I’ve exercised all my life but now heading into my 50’s it’s about moving my body well and thinking ahead for my joint, muscle, and cardio health.  Strength training does it for me.  I feel awesome after  my workouts ( knackered but awesome !)  I want to be that 70 yr old that looks and moves like she’s still in her 50’s!” - Yvonne

“Strength training makes me feel strong and more confident. I have noticed an improvement in my health, both physically and mentally. Without lifting heavy I would have not recovered from my surgery like I have. Despite my muscles getting bigger I feel as though my body shape is more feminine. It also doesn’t hurt to be stronger than most men, girl power!” - Florence
